Applying indicator tools to demonstrate soil health has been improved under innovative pasture management practices

Overview

This activity is identifying and validating soil health indicators that can be used to measure the impact of innovative pasture management practices on soil condition, productivity, and resilience. Working across multiple demonstration sites and collaborating with project partners, farmers, and industry stakeholders, the research integrates soil chemistry, biology, physics, and management data to develop practical tools for monitoring soil health and supporting evidence-based farm management and contribute to project outcome 1 and 2.

Key Activities

  • Identify and validate soil health indicators through comprehensive soil sampling, laboratory analyses, DNA sequencing, and statistical modelling across demonstration sites.

  • Collaborate with farmers, researchers, and industry partners to collect management data, monitor soil health, and evaluate the impacts of climate-smart pasture management practices.

  • Translate research into practice by delivering soil health workshops, developing practical assessment tools, and sharing findings through industry engagement and scientific publications.
